Maharashtra Gramin Bank (MGB) is one of the largest regional rural banks in India with over 475+ locations across Maharashtra, serving millions of customers through its wide network of branches. I had the opportunity to design the whole concept of the Credit Expo organised by the Bank.

Context

Mahagramin Bank hosted its annual Credit Expo 2023, a large-scale event across Maharashtra to promote financial products and strengthen customer relationships. The project demanded cohesive branding, seamless visual communication, and a strong digital presence that resonated with the bank’s identity while maintaining professionalism and trust.

Problem

Each district branch managed its own creative output, leading to inconsistent branding, distorted logos, and poor visual quality across platforms. The bank needed a unified event identity that could scale across print, digital, and motion media all while retaining the integrity of the original logo and brand colors.

The overall design direction reflected trust, stability, and progress, the core values of Mahagramin Bank.

  • Color Palette: Blue and White (primary), Grey accents for neutrality, and Green for growth.
  • Typography: Clean, legible fonts for professional readability.
  • Layout Style: Grid-based design ensuring clarity, consistency, and scalability for large-format prints.

Key Learnings

Design Consistency Matters: I learned how even minor inconsistencies in typography, spacing, or proportions can affect a brand’s perception across hundreds of locations. Establishing design uniformity became a key takeaway.

Respecting Brand Heritage: Working with a legacy institution taught me how to refine and modernize a brand’s identity without disrupting its authenticity or trust value.

Problem-Solving Under Constraints: Since I couldn’t alter the logo significantly, I learned to solve design issues within strict brand boundaries, focusing on precision and subtle improvement.

Vectorization and Technical Precision: The process deepened my understanding of vector recreation, alignment, and typographic balance, especially in bilingual design systems.

Collaboration with Corporate Stakeholders: Coordinating with multiple branches and senior management improved my communication, documentation, and feedback-handling skills.

Scalability in Design Systems: I realized the importance of creating design solutions that can be replicated seamlessly across multiple formats and regions.

Design as Impact, Not Decoration: The project reinforced that design isn’t just about visuals — it’s about creating clarity, consistency, and trust for an organization’s identity.
